The Guardians: the Game — how to use it in class

1. What the game is for

The child is the engineer of a building. They place sensors, cameras and a siren so that the chain sensor → panel → signal → centre → patrol notices the “guest” in time. The guests are funny raccoons who want biscuits — nobody gets hurt. Stars are for spending wisely, not for speed. In levels 27–30 the child is the passer-by and learns their rights when they are filmed.

3. 20 minutes in class

  1. 3 min. Show level 1 on the board. Ask: “Where will the raccoon come in first?”
  2. 10 min. The children play in pairs: one places the devices, the other says why. Then they swap.
  3. 5 min. Talk: “Where did the chain break?” The scissors ✂ on screen show the link.
  4. 2 min. Each pair says one rule they learned.

4. How to talk about rights (levels 27–30)

Calmly and without scary stories. The key words: to know (the sign), to see the recording of yourself, to ask for erasure, to object and to tell an adult. Children use their rights together with a parent. Your face is yours: we ask before posting someone else's photo, and we do not give our face to every app.

⚖️ The legal cards (levels 27–30, 33, 36, 45 and 46) were checked against the GDPR, the EU AI Act and the Bulgarian Private Security Act, but are awaiting a lawyer's review.

5. Access for everyone

The game can be played with a keyboard only: Tab to the plan, arrow keys and Enter. A screen reader reads the row, the column, what is on the square and how many devices notice it. It works on phones, tablets and computers, without sound.

6. Safety

The game collects no data and needs no account. It teaches how the systems work, not how to get around them. If a child shares a worry (for example about a neighbour's camera), listen calmly and talk to the parent.
