PARENT GUIDE · DB-PZ-11

The Siren and the Message to Everyone

Track: The Guardians · Level: Explorer · Ages 7–13 · Link: lessons DB-PZ-04 and DB-PZ-07
⏱ lesson 12 min on screen + 10 min drill · 🧺 a sturdy table

1. What your child learns and why

Your child learns that BG-ALERT sends warnings to every phone in the area, with a loud sound, without personal or location data. They learn the first step — calm, with an adult, follow the instructions — and the earthquake drill. The aim is confidence, not fear.

2. Three questions for dinner

3. 10 minutes together — the drill

  1. Show your child where the alert settings are on your phone (usually “Emergency alerts”). The strongest level cannot be switched off.
  2. Do a drill: “Quake!” → drop, cover, hold, count to 20.
  3. Choose a meeting place and a number your child knows by heart.

4. What success looks like

5. Common difficulties

Say: “A warning is care — someone tells us in time.”

6. Safety

Do not trigger real alarms as a test. The BG-ALERT facts are from the Bulgarian Ministry of Interior and bg-alert.bg; the earthquake actions are from New Zealand Civil Defence (Drop, Cover, Hold). In danger to life — 112.

Who to contact (Bulgaria): 116 111 · 124 123 (safenet.bg) · 112

7. Where to go next

This is the last lesson of “The Guardians”. Previous: DB-PZ-10 “Smart Devices at Home”. The game: kagami.bg/en/deca/igri/pazitelite/ (levels 42–46).

You don't need to know the answer. Say: “Let's find out together.”
